Elderly man killed in mobility scooter crash in Perth

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene, but died in hospital.

A 91-year-old man riding a mobility scooter has been killed in a traffic crash in the northern Perth suburb of Dianella.

Police said the man was attempting to cross Yirrigan Drive to get to the Mirrabooka Shopping Centre when his scooter collided with a four-wheel drive just before 5:30pm on Sunday.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene for a head injury, before being taken to Royal Perth Hospital.

He died a short time later.

Police from Major Crash were at the scene overnight gathering evidence.

The driver of the white four-wheel drive, a man aged in his 40s, stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police.

Officers said it was too early to say whether any charges would be laid.

They want to speak to anyone who witnessed the accident.
