Elderly man in his seventies killed in two-vehicle crash

An elderly man has died following a crash involving two vehicles, police have confirmed.

The two-vehicle collision took place on the A493 in Gwynedd near the village of Friog on Friday afternoon.

The road was closed from about 3.30pm with police warning that it would be closed for some time. It eventually reopened shortly before 10pm.

Late on Friday night North Wales Police confirmed that a man in his seventies had died as a result of the crash, and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: “Sadly, a man in his seventies has died following a road traffic collision on the A493 in Meirionnydd on Friday afternoon (September 10).

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has any information, is asked to contact us quoting reference number Z134067.”
