Elderly man dies following crash on Hotwell Road while woman remains in serious condition

An elderly man has died following following a Elderly couple remain in critical condition following city centre crash on a busy city centre road.

The man, who was in his 70s, was one of Elderly couple remain in critical condition following city centre crash following a collision involving a car at around 12.50pm on April 7 on Hotwell Road.

A woman, also in her seventies, remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the car was also hospitalised but his injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

Part of Hotwell Road, Rownham Mead and Merchants Road were closed for more than five hours while collision investigators examined the scene.

PC Wayne Cahart, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is very sad news and our thoughts are with the victim’s family.

“We are still appealing for witnesses to his collision to come forward, as well as anyone with Dash Cam or CCTV footage. 

“We’d also like to speak to anyone who saw the manner of driving of a blue Nissan Almera leading up to the collision.”
