Elderly man dies after being hit by train at Bristol station

A man in his 80s has died after being hit by a train at Parson Street station in Bedminster.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “At 12.58pm today officers were called to Parson Street station after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

All lines were blocked between Bristol Temple Meads and Worle, but reopened by 4pm.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called at 1pm about an incident at Parsons Street Railway Station, near Bedminster.

“We sent various resources to the scene, including a hazardous area response team (HART) a land ambulance and an operational commander.

“Police and the fire service attended as well.”
