Elderly man breaks hip after cruel teen pushes him over for not wearing a face mask

A 76-year-old man was shoved to the ground by a teenager for not wearing a mask despite being exempt due to breathing problems, his son said.

Cesar Suarez told reporters his pensioner dad had suffered a broken hip after a 16-year-old threatened to infect him with coronavirus, screamed at him to put his mask on and the pushed him to the ground in Malaga city.

Mr Suarez told expat newspaper the Olive Press he was "furious" and his dad was unable to move in his hospital bed and was scarred emotionally by the incident.

He has had to have replacement hip surgery at a hospital in Malaga.

The elderly man was walking through Malaga city and came within less than two metres of the teen. He suffers from breathing problems which exempts him from wearing a face covering.

Mr Suarez said his dad was "lucky to fall on his side" and would have hit his head if he had fallen on his back.

His injured dad had called him to say a man had thrown him to the ground and he thought his hip was broken, Mr Suarez told the Olive Press.

Mr Suarez said: "The boy will be on the beach with his friends and my father in a hospital bed."

Police have launched an investigation.

There have been several incidents of violence and disorder linked to the rules designed to stop the spread of coronavirus.

In Hong Kong, a McDonald's customer launched a furious attack on a restaurant manager for reminding him to put on a face mask.

Viral footage appears to show an enraged man force his way behind the counter and throw punches and kicks at the male fast-food worker, identified in reports as the manager and by his surname Luo.

Police have confirmed a man is under investigation after the footage emerged on news sites in Hong Kong, where strict measures were this week announced to defeat a surge this month in coronavirus infections.

In France, a bus driver has died after a brutal attack by five passengers who refused to wear compulsory face coverings on public transport.

The sickening assault in Bayonee, southwestern France, left 59-year-old Philippe Monguillot with brain damage and he has since been let go.

Three passengers are said to have set upon Mr Monguillot after he asked to see their tickets, and insisted they wear face coverings, which are now mandatory in France on public transport as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, cheeky teens are using coronavirus face coverings to dress up as pensioners and buy booze.

Donning the face coverings to hide their youthful looks, they make a few adjustments to their clothing and hair and find themselves walking out of the stores with bags of drink, before posting the results on social media.

The craze is sweeping the video sharing social media app TikTok as the teens exploit the coronavirus crisis to avoid being asked for ID for the alcohol.
