Elderly man attacked as intruder raided his Nottinghamshire home

An elderly man has been left with injuries to his head, arm, hand and back after an offender forced their way into his home.

The victim was allegedly pushed to the floor at the address in Sutton in Ashfield where the intruder forced entry and proceeded to steal his wallet, police say.

A high valued necklace and rings were also reportedly taken during the incident on Monday afternoon (September 21).

Detective Sergeant Lauren Morgan is leading the investigation. She said: "Officers are now appealing for information and witnesses following a robbery at a home in Sutton-in-Ashfield.

"It was reported that an unknown offender has forced entry into a property in The Oval at around 5pm.

"The victim was pushed to the floor, before taking a number of items of high value and sentimental value including jewellery.

"This was a horrible incident where a vulnerable man was targeted. He has been left with injuries to his head, elbow, right hand, forearm and his back.

"If anyone saw anything suspicious or has any information please call 101, quoting incident number 596 of 21 September 2020.

"You can also report any information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
