An elderly man has been arrested over a series of historical indecent assault allegations.
Gardai in Limerick made the arrest on Saturday morning, with the man currently detained at Henry Street Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
The man, aged in his late 70s, was taken into custody arising from allegations from the 1970s and 1980s.
A garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí in Limerick attached to the Divisional Protective Services Unit arrested a man, (late 70s) this morning, Saturday 6th March, 2021.
"The arrest arises as a result of allegations of indecent assault in the 1970s and 1980s.
"The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Henry Street Garda Station.
"Investigations ongoing."
