Elderly man, 81, fighting for life after hit-and-run in Waltham Forest

An 81-year-old man is fighting for life after a hit-and-run.

The incident took place around 10pm on Thursday and the victim was rushed to hospital.

The driver did not stop at the scene in Lea Bridge Road, Waltham Forest, and officers are investigating.

A Scotland Yard statement said: "The 81-year-old pedestrian was treated at the scene for a number of injuries before being taken to hospital. He remains in a critical condition.

"The driver did not stop at the scene and an investigation is underway to trace the vehicle and the driver."

The force is keen to hear from any witnesses or anyone with information that could help in tracing the driver and the vehicle.

Officers have also appealed for any dashcam footage that may have captured the incident or could assist in enquiries.
