Elderly man, 78, injured in hit-and-run in Easton

An elderly man was taken to hospital after being hit by a car as he used a pedestrian crossing.

The 78-year-old was struck while at the crossing in Easton Way, near the junction with Stapleton Road.

The driver failed to stop and emergency crews were called.

Despite the accident happening four days ago, at 1pm on Friday (January 31), the man is still receiving hospital treatment.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Avon and Somerset Police has now launched an appeal.

A force spokesperson said: "We are appealing for witnesses and anybody with dashcam footage to come forward following a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian Bristol last week.

"CCTV enquiries are ongoing but anybody who witnessed the incident, or was driving in the area at the time and has dashcam footage, is asked to call 101 and give the call-handler reference 5220025696."
