An elderly Dublin woman came out on top when pitted against a dangerous thief during a scary northside incident over the weekend.
The pensioner faced a stand-off with the thug after he attempted to break into her house in Finglas during a late night attack on Sunday.
But the robber, who was dressed all in black, was met by the homeowner and her dog who was set on the brazen man.
It is understood that he had gained access to the house by jumping the side gate.
But while trying to pop open the woman's window, she let her dog at him who chased him away from the area.
One concerned neighbour had heard the ruckus but their help was not needed as the pensioner confirmed she had dealt with the thug herself.
The neighbour said: "Attempted house break-in at a house at W.F.T.A FC pitches in Finglas.
"A man dressed all in black jumped the side gate but the old lady and her dog chased him away.
"She said he tried to open her window but by the time I got out with my dog, he was gone down towards the big church."
Dublin Live understands that Gardai are investigating and looking for witnesses in relation to this incident.
