Elderly cyclist rushed to hospital after crash with car in Scots town

An elderly cyclist has been rushed to hospital following a crash in an East Lothian town. Emergency services were called to Dunbar High Street at around 10.14 am on Sunday April 23 following reports of a crash between a cyclist and a silver Vauxhall Astra.

A 79-year-old was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment. Their condition is currently unknown.

The 60-year-old driver of the car was uninjured. Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with their inquiries.

Police Constable Stewart Logan said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of what happened are ongoing.

“Anyone who saw what happened or who has dash-cam footage that can assist is asked to call us on 101, quoting incident number 1121 of Sunday, 23 April, 2023.”
