Elderly couple tied up while burglars ransacked their home in 'terrifying' burglary

Detectives have launched an investigation after an elderly couple were tied up while burglars ransacked their home.

Police were called to Spring Hill in Kimberley at around 3am on Friday (October 16) after reports two men had entered a house.

It is reported the hands of a 76-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were bound before burglars made away with cash, jewellery and a van from the property.

The incident is believed to have taken place between 1.30am and 3am and detectives have been working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the break-in.

Police are looking to speak with a white man, believed to be in his early 30s and around 6ft 2ins, as well as another white man in his early 50s who is around 5ft 8ins.

It is believed they fled the scene in a small white van.

Detective Sergeant Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Clearly, this would have been a terrifying incident for the victims and we are doing everything we can to find those responsible.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious that evening to get in touch as soon as possible.

“Anything information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, could help us find who did this.”

If you have any information, footage or witnessed the incident, please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 59 of October 16, 2020.
