Elderly couple charged with heroin supply

A 72-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman have been charged with being part of a syndicate supplying heroin in Sydney.

Police said they also arrested a 44-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Anzac Parade, Chifley, just after dawn on Wednesday,

The Hilllvue man was charged with taking part in supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and appeared at Waverley Local Court on Wednesday where he was again refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on April 20.

A short time later police searched a unit at Waterloo and seized heroin, a mobile phone, a number of SIM cards, prescription medications, and laser pointers.

A 41-year-old man was arrested there and charged with taking part in the supply of a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, supplying prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court on Thursday.

Detectives then arrested a 72-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman at a home at Surry Hills and charged them both with supplying a commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.

They were refused bail and will appear in Central Local Court on Thursday.
