PHITSANULOK: A 72-year-old retired military officer was killed after being hit by a pick-up truck while riding on a mountain bike in Bang Rakam district in a routine morning exercise on Sunday.

Pol Capt Pongsiri Ampaipornpit, a Bang Rakam police investigator, said Lt Bamrungsak Luanark was cycling along Bang Rakam-Lan Krabue road when he was hit by an Isuzu D-Max pick-up driven by Kaew Kerdsak, 43, of Khon Kaen's Waeng Noy district. The accident took place at about 5.55am.

Lt Bamrungsak sustained a broken neck and bruises all over his body. He was rushed to Bang Rakam Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
