There are only a few days to go until Elden Ring is finally launched after a lengthy delay.
As one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2022, Elden Ring was originally set to be released back in January but was pushed back by just more than a month.
The game is the creative child of a collaboration between award-winning videogame director Hidetaka Miyazaki - the brain behind the Dark Souls series - and George R.R. Martin, best known for his A Song of Ice and Fire books which were the inspiration for the Game of Thrones TV show.

Martin is largely responsible for creating the setting and lore behind Elden Ring but has not had as much involvement in the in-game dialogue.
Elden Ring will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 - it will also be available on last-gen consoles which will come with support for next-gen consoles if you ever upgrade, meaning you don't have to buy the game twice.
So, when is Elden Ring launching this week?
Elden Ring release date
As mentioned previously, Elden Ring was originally supposed to launch on January 19 this year but was pushed back due to the game needing extra work.
FromSoftware previously said in October: "The depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations."
Now, the game will finally be launching worldwide on Friday, February 25 for most modern-day consoles.
The game seems to have much more ambitions than its spiritual predecessors in the Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro series which were all developed by FromSoftware.
For starters, the game will be open-world and not have a set linear path, giving players much more freedom to explore the world presented to them.
The game will also have content that fans of FromSoftware games have come to expect including co-op, PvP and challenging combat.
