Elden Ring movie confirmed with full cast as production begins in Spring 2026

The highly anticipated A24 movie adaptation of FromSoftware’s action RPG, Elden Ring, finally has a release date, not to mention a star-studded cast. Written and directed by the acclaimed English author and filmmaker Alexander Garland, the Elden Ring movie will be filmed for IMAX and released on March 3, 2028.

Bandai Namco has confirmed that production for the film begins in Spring 2026 and has revealed the movie’s full cast to go with the big announcement.

The Elden Ring movie features 11 major characters played by prominent industry names, though Bandai Namco and A24 have yet to confirm what roles these actors will be portraying. That said, there’s plenty of room for speculation. I would bet my money on Nick Offerman playing Starscourge Radahn.

Actor’s name Character Actor’s most notable role (s)
Kit Connor TBC Warfare, Heartstopper
Ben Whishaw TBC Skyfall, Paddington
Cailee Spaeny TBC Alien: Romulus, Civil War
Tom Burke TBC Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Black Bag
Havana Rose Liu TBC Bottoms
Sonoya Mizuno  TBC Ex Machina
Jonathan Pryce TBC The Two Popes
Ruby Cruz TBC Willows, Bottoms
Nick Offerman TBC The Last of Us
John Hodgkinson TBC Napoleon
Jefferson Hall TBC House of the Dragon
Emma Laird TBC 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple
Peter Serafinowicz TBC Guardians of the Galaxy

It’s worth noting that Garland has previously worked with some of the aforementioned actors, such as Kit Connor on Warfare, Sonoya Mizuno on Ex Machina, and Emma Laird on 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. Garland has also previously collaborated with Peter Rice, who’s set to produce the film alongside Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, George R.R. Martin, and Vince Gerardis.

The Elden Ring movie is rumored to be A24’s most expensive production, with a budget of over $100 million. Garland is an Elden Ring aficionado, boasting over 4000 hours in the game spread across seven playthroughs.

Interestingly enough, the Elden Ring movie isn’t Garland’s first video game-related project. He had previously worked as a writer on Ninja Theory’s Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and DmC: Devil May Cry.

In other Elden Ring-related news, the movie’s set footage leaked on Reddit earlier this year, giving players a first look at what appears to be an early-game location in Limgrave, the Church of Marika.
