Elaine McArthur: Police confirm body found in search for missing Edinburgh woman

A body has been found in the search for missing Edinburgh woman Elaine McArthur.

The 48-year-old mum of two was reported missing in the city last weekend with police launching a public appeal for information as to her whereabouts. She was last seen on CCTV walking along Crewe Road North on the afternoon of 18 April.

Searches have been carried out in the Granton area in recent days, and officers have now confirmed that a body was discovered in the Granton View area at around 11.15am this morning (Saturday, 25 April).

Her family have been informed although formal identification is yet to take place. The death is currently being treated as unexplained.

A police spokesperson said: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a woman was found in Granton View around 11.15am on Saturday, 25 April, 2020.

"The family of local missing woman Elaine McArthur, missing since Saturday, 18 April, have been made aware of the discovery.

"Formal identification is yet to take place and a post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death. The death is being treated as unexplained."
