Elaine Crowley welcomes new nephew into family in gushing post

Elaine Crowley revealed she is bursting with joy after the arrival of a new family member.

The Virgin Media host revealed her big brother John and his partner welcomed a baby boy named Ronan on Monday.

She told how her new nephew’s arrival makes her the proud auntie of 24 kids.

Sharing pictures of the new-born on social media, she said: “Welcome to the world Ronan Crowley.

“I love you already. Congratulations to my big brother John and @hearny89 - now I’m an auntie of 24!!! #nephew #newbabyboy #familylove #goodnewsday”

Friends and fans rushed to send their congratulations to the star and her family, with one saying: “Congratulations Auntie Elaine. And John and family.”

“24 wowzers!!! huge congrats,” someone else added.

Another joked: “I think at this stage it would be cheaper to have a child of your own... Wowser 24 nieces and nephews.”

Writing in a guest column for the Irish Mirror earlier this year, Elaine joked that whilst she loves the kids in her life, she was thankful she wasn't in lockdown with any over the past year.

Kicking off a light-hearted piece during the pandemic, the well-known presenter wrote: “I read somewhere that plants are the new pets, pets are the new kids, and kids are the new exotic animals.

"Ah they’re hilarious little creatures. I’ve been regaled with stories about their antics over the last year from both viewers and people I know.

“I’ve 23 nieces and nephews - another one on the way - and boy am I glad I’m not in lockdown with any of them!”

Elaine's popular daytime talk show was recently cancelled by Virgin Media after 10 successful years on air.

Sharing the surprising news on Instagram, the Cork journalist said: "It’s with a heavy heart I say goodbye to the Elaine show."

"It’s been such a privilege and an honour to work with such amazing women and men over the last 10 years. Such great friendships have been forged, and many many laughs have been had, especially behind the scenes (the bold stuff I can’t tell you about!)"

She went on: "I just want to thank everyone involved in the show: the crew, production team, panelists and most of all the viewers. Your support has meant the world to me and got me through some difficult times.

"I’m so lucky to have had the chance to work with you all, and have my name on a mug!! Anyway, enough waffling from me for now. Take care of yourselves, be kind to yourselves and thank you for being there."

The presenter is now hosting Ireland AM from Friday to Sunday alongside Simon Delaney.
