TV presenter Elaine Crowley has opened up about her failed bid to get Botox for the first time at the age of 30.
The 44-year-old Ireland AM host told of her unusual experience in a discussion with satirist Mario Rosenstock on his latest podcast.
She vented her frustration at what she termed the “Kardashian-isation of Ireland” and called for transparency when it comes to cosmetic procedures.
Urging full disclosure to keep younger fans in the picture she said: “Own it, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Don’t lie about it, what is the point?
And speaking about her own experience she said she went to the Blackrock Clinic to get Botox when she was 30 but ended up being shown the door.
Elaine recounted: “I had a mid-life crisis at 30 - ‘I’m so old, I’ve got wrinkles, fix me, I want Botox, I want injections, I want fillers, please do everything’.
“I was lying down on her bed and she looked at me and she said: ‘Elaine, do you know what you can do now? You can get up out of that bed and come back to me in 10 years.
‘I refuse to inject anything. You don’t need to get anything done and I’m not going to take your money so get out the door’.”
The candid broadcaster has been open about her experiences with Botox before, revealing that she got it for the first time when she turned 40.
Speaking on the Elaine show earlier this year she opened up about why she got it done, admitting: “I didn’t go mental, but I was 40 and I was a bit wrinkly.”
But, she said, her fear of “going mad” with fillers held her back from having other work done.
