El Clasico mosaic: Camp Nou to unveil stunning new 90,000 card display before Barcelona vs Real Madrid

The first El Clasico of the season will be kick-started by a stunning new mosaic, featuring around 90,000 cards, at Camp Nou this weekend.

The Clasico mosaic has been a fixture at Barcelona’s stadium for around 26 years, and this season’s instalment features a new slogan.

As the Barca anthem resonates around Camp Nou, 90,000 supporters will raise blue, claret and yellow cards.

These will reveal a new message, in English, with ‘We color football’ displayed in the laternal stand, while the adjoining Gol Sud and Nord ends of Camp Nou show the colours of the Senyera, the Catalonian flag.

On Barcelona’s official website, they say they expect to create a ‘100% blaugrana atmosphere’.

“Unlike other mosaics, the one against Real Madrid was unique in the sense that it was dynamic, moving from the bottom part of the stands to the top, echoing the building of a ‘castell’ (human tower).”

The first El Clasico mosaic occurred on March 7 1992.
