NEW YORK _ They're Chapos off the old block.
A federal grand jury indicted two of "El Chapo's" sons on drug trafficking charges, the Justice Department said Thursday.
Joaquin "El Guero" Guzman Lopez, 34, and Ovidio "El Raton" Guzman Lopez, 28, are accused of conspiring to distribute cocaine, meth and pot from Mexico and other areas to be sold in the U.S. between 2008 and 2018, says the indictment filed in Washington, D.C., federal court.
The indictment was handed up in April 2018, and finally unsealed last week.
Both men are still at large. Authorities believe they're in Mexico.
Mexican drug lord El Chapo _ whose real name is Joaquin Guzman Loera _ was convicted of drug trafficking charges last week in Brooklyn Federal Court. The anonymous jury decided Guzman led the powerful, murderous Sinaloa Cartel.
Chapo's beauty queen wife and family helped the drug lord run his empire, and a cartel turncoat testified that two of his six sons, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, ordered the murder of an acclaimed journalist.
Chapo's wife and sons also oversaw his dramatic 2015 escape from a Mexican prison, which involved a motorcycle and a secret underground tunnel.
