El Chapo's daughter wears coronavirus mask with her dad's face on to pack aid boxes

El Chapo's daughter wore Covid-19 face masks featuring her dad's famous mug as they packed aid boxes for Mexico's poor.

Alejandrina Guzman, the 38-year-old daughter of the former leader of the Sinaloa cartel Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, prepared boxes of what have called ‘Chapo Provisions’ to be shared in the city of Guadalajara, in the western Mexican state of Jalisco.

A group of women were seen wearing Covid-19 face masks with El-Chapo's face on it as they packed boxes also featuring the drug lord's famous features.

Footage of the incident shows two women sanitising their hands as a man’s voice can be heard saying they are preparing ‘Chapo dispensas’ - Chapo provisions.

El Chapo’s daughter then explains that the boxes will go to those most in need during the coronavirus crisis, especially to the elderly.

The boxes contain toilet paper, soup, biscuits, oil, sugar, rice and beans, among other items.

Those who would like a box of provisions are told they can send a private message on social media to register their interest.

Local media has reported that Mexican criminal groups like the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Los Viagras and the Golfo Cartel have made similar donations in the Covid-19 crisis.

In July last year El Chapo was locked up for life.

He was convicted in February on murder conspiracy and drug charges before being sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years by US District Judge Brian Cogan.

He was also ordered to pay $12.6 billion (£10.1bn).

The 62-year-old, whose nickname means 'Shorty', trafficked tons of cocaine, heroin and marijuana while engaging in multiple murder conspiracies while head of the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to the latest figures from the John Hopkins University, Mexico has registered 5,847 cases of COVID-19, and 449 deaths.
