Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu wants to 'distance herself' from Love Island as she follows in Molly-Mae's footsteps

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu has revealed her plans to 'distance herself' from Love Island as she strives to become her 'own person'. The Turkish actress, who won the ITV dating show last summer with her boyfriend Davide Sanclimenti, has admitted that she wants to pursue other acting opportunities.

Since leaving the villa, Ekin-Su has appeared as a contestant on the latest series of Dancing on Ice as well as landing huge deals with brands like fashion retailer Oh Polly. But the 28-year-old now wants to detach from the Love Island scene and instead take on an acting agent.

The former Love Island star appears to be following in the footsteps of Molly-Mae Hague, who after finding fame on the dating show in 2019, admitted to 'not wanting to be known' for her appearance on the show.

Ekin-Su has now suggested that she also doesn't want to be confined to the "scene" associated with Love Island, telling Women's Health UK that she wants to "distance" herself from it, reports The Mirror.

Ekin-Su said she often hears that she could be "forgotten" as new Islanders rise to fame after the show, but the former contestant stated that she's not fazed by it.

"That doesn't bother me because of who I am," she says, as she added that she knows what she's going to do in her life.

Discussing her ambitions, Ekin-Su said: "Acting in films; playing roles and quirky characters; something that would make you think, 'Oh, Ekin is not this,' but then I smash it…"

Ekin-Su told Women's Heath that she plans to start looking for an acting agency this month and put herself back out there.

She added: "That’s when I start looking for an acting agency, putting myself out, you know, try to distance myself as much as I can from the Love Island scene and, yeah, be my own person."

Back in 2021 Molly-Mae admitted that she had distanced herself from the show and that she actively tries to avoid talking about it.

Molly explained: "I've been getting so many questions about the new contestants and I wasn't going to speak about it.

"Obviously the last two years I have spent so much time not necessarily removing myself, because my job was an influencer before, but I wanted to go back to what I was doing before without that brand of being a Love Islander or just being known for that.

"I definitely have spent a lot of time since I came out of the show removing myself from that stereotype and by doing that I just don't speak about it a lot."
