East Kilbride Thistle boss Iain Diack isn’t worried about two heavy defeats in pre-season – because he has all summer to get recruitment right.
Jags lost 7-0 to Arthurlie on Saturday and 4-1 to East Kilbride’s development squad two days later, but that just showed Diack which of his trialists are staying on for longer.
He said: “We played quite a lot of trialists in both games so we could have a look at them.
“We took two quite heavy defeats but there’s not much else you can do, you need to have a look at these boys to see if they’re going to be good enough.
“The games have told us a lot about the guys we’ve got in training, which ones aren’t going to be good enough to stay with us, going forward.
“It also means we can look elsewhere for players.
“It’s a work in progress; we have the whole of pre-season to try and get it right, and move from there.”

Thistle play Duncanrig on Saturday in the first of the East Kilbride summer league games, followed by EK Rolls Royce next week.
Diack added: “It’s all about fitness. I’m not worried at all by the results.
“I’d take losing in every friendly as long as it meant we’d win the first game of the season.
“We have to stick with it, and hopefully we get the bodies in that we need in certain positions.
“We only have 11 players from last season and two of those are injured.”
