EK teen left 'badly shaken' after being robbed by group of five

Police in East Kilbride have launched an investigation after a teenager was attacked by five youths and robbed at the weekend.

The incident happened on Friday evening in the Penfold Crescent area, with a source saying the 16-year-old had been left “badly shaken”.

Now officers are asking for help from anyone who may have been in the area or seen anything at that time.

The incident happened shortly after 10pm on November 20 in the Penfold Crescent area as the boy walked in the direction of Quebec Drive.

Police say he was assaulted and had the rucksack he was wearing stolen from him. This contained personal belongings which have not yet been traced.

Detective Constable Gary Milligan fromtold the News: “We know this happened when the area was dark, however, it did take place in a residential street and we are asking anyone who saw or heard anything connected to the incident to come forward.

“The teenager was thankfully not seriously injured, but the group who attacked him used a level of violence that is wholly unacceptable.

“We would ask anyone who may have come across the rucksack discarded since, or who knows who may be responsible for this robbery, to come forward.

The boy was left with facial injuries, but did not require hospital treatment, after he was attacked by the group thought to consist of four males and one female.

The attackers are all thought to be in their late teens, were wearing dark coloured clothing, with one of his male attackers wearing a red hooded tracksuit and black coloured jacket.
