Eintracht Frankfurt send message to Arsenal following Standard Liege draw in the Europa League

Arsenal secured top spot in their Europa League group after coming back from two-goals down to draw 2-2 at Standard Liege.

After a goalless first half, Samuel Bastien put the hosts ahead when his shot wrong-footed Emiliano Martinez in the Gunner goals.

Before Selim Amallah made it 2-0 on 69 minutes when his strike from inside the area found the net via a deflection off Konstantinos Mavropanos.

But Alexandre Lacazette reduced the arrears when he finished from close-range before Bukayo Saka restored parity with 10 minutes to go.

The result ensures that not only will the Gunners win their group, but they will also be seeded for the draw on Monday, avoiding some of the stronger teams dropping into the competition from the Champions League as a result.

The 12 Europa League group winners will be seeded for the draw, along with Ajax, Inter, Benfica and Salzburg.

But the draw also meant that Eintracht Frankfurt qualified for the knockout rounds despite being beaten by Vitoria in their final group game.

And the German giants were quick to thank their English counterparts for helping them got over the line.

Taking to Twitter, the Bundesliga side wrote: “Thanks @Arsenal, we knew you wouldn't let us down.”

Arsenal fans will be able to watch the draw by tuning in to BT Sport 1 at 12pm or by heading to UEFA.com on Monday.

The draw will commence after the Champions League last 16 draw.
