Eighties stars to tour UK with full symphony orchestra in 2020 - including Nottingham's Motorpoint Arena

A host of stars from the 1980s are going back on the road.

Nothing unusual  in that. Pop nostalgia has been big business as far back as the 1990s.

But this time they'll be backed by a full symphony orchestra.

80s Classical will see Jimmy Somerville, Belinda Carlisle, Howard Jones, Nik Kershaw and Carol Decker running through their biggest hits, accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

The tour will be hosted by Gary Davies, one of Radio 1's big name DJs from that decade. He took part in Radio 2's Friday Night is Music Night which featured some of the line-up and gave birth to the idea of a tour.

He said: "One of the most incredible nights I have ever experienced was hosting this special concert when we recorded it for BBC Radio 2, It’s an emotional spine-tingling experience and I can’t wait to bring it on tour.”

Expect to hear new orchestral versions of hits such as Don’t Leave Me This Way, Heaven Is a Place on Earth, Things Can Only Get Better, China In your Hand and I Won’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.
