Eight-time loser Glenn Close livens up the Oscars with dance and shouting 'Da Butt!'

Glenn Close may not have won an Oscar, but she's a winner on the night for brightening up the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony with a bit of butt shaking.

The 74-year-old made history as she didn't win an award for a record-breaking eighth time.

She became only the second person ever to have the unwanted stat - and the first female. The only other person to achieve such a feat was the late British actor Peter O'Toole.

But that didn't appear to dampen her spirits.

The actress was quick to rise out of her seat and give the reduced crowd an eye full as she took part in the Da Butt challenge.

Wearing a sparkling navy gown, the movie legend shook her bum and swayed her hips while shouting "Da Butt".

The room burst out into fits of laughter - and it seems like viewers at home did as well.

Fans and famous followers were quick to take to Twitter to share in with the hysterics.

One user wrote: "shut it down, it's not getting better," while another simply called her an icon.

A third put: "I am deceased, because Glenn Close just killed me. Just bury me somewhere nice, y’all...", while sharing a video of the shenanigans.

Others were quick to say she deserved an Oscar for that performance alone.

However, the best bum shake wasn't up for a gong unfortunately.

The star has so far come up short for nominations surrounding this year's Hillbilly Elegy, The World According to Garp in 1983, The Big Chill in 1984, The Natural in 1985, Fatal Attraction in 1988, Dangerous Liaisons in 1989, Albert Nobbs in 2012 and The Wife in 2019.

The next closest females to consistently miss out on awards are Amy Adams, Thelma Ritter and Deborah Kerr.

The trio have all received six Oscar nods to date but none have been able to air their acceptance speech.
