Eight men charged with the execution-style murder of Adelaide spray painter Jason De Ieso in 2012 have all pleaded not guilty at their first appearance in South Australia's Supreme Court.

The eight men were brought into the dock on Monday amid tight security as preparations continue for the start of their trial later this year.

They are represented by a number of Adelaide's most senior barristers and lawyers with the case to be presided over by Justice Trish Kelly.

The eight accused are brothers Husain Alzuain, Musa Ali Alzuain and Mohamad Alzuain, Daniel Mark Jalleh, Ross William Montgomery, Seynran Moradi, Kyle Lloyde Pryde and Nicholas Sianis

Mr De Ieso, 33, was gunned down at his Pooraka workshop and CCTV footage released by police showed nine men walking towards the front of the building and at least six of them carrying guns.

Shots were fired before the men were seen running away.

The court was told on Monday that two weeks had been set aside for preliminary arguments in October.

At this stage, there have been no applications for a trial by judge alone, which means the case will be heard in front of a jury.

In a statement released after the last of the arrests, Mr De Ieso's family said there were times when they thought no one would be held to account for his murder.

"We understand that there is a long road ahead and appreciate the efforts of police to have progressed the investigation to this point," they said.

"Jason was an innocent person and his family and friends continue to suffer from his death."

The case against the eight men will return to court in August for a directions hearing when some will appear in person and some by video link.
