Eight people have been caught at a house party during lockdown in County Durham.
Police were called with reports of anti-social behaviour at a property in Eastbourne Road, in Darlington, shortly before 1am on Friday and found eight people from different households all gathered at the same address.
All eight, four men and four women aged between 52 and 32 years, were reported by police for breaches of the regulations.
Officers say the incident was one of a number attended over the last few days by officers from Operation Triton, Durham Constabulary’s team dedicated to ensuring compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
They have attended incidents in Darlington, Durham City, Crook, Shildon and Spennymoor over the weekend.
On Saturday night a Fixed Penalty Notice was issued to a man in his early 20s who had invited five people to his Ushaw Moor home for a house party.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “These are challenging times for everyone but, so far, all the evidence seems to suggest that the vast majority of the public are still doing the right thing and are sticking to the regulations.
“Our officers will take a reasonable and fair approach to policing the current situation, but make no mistake, Covid-19 remains a potentially deadly threat and we will take action against those who choose to put the lives of others at risk".
