Eight new homes could be built in Westhoughton pub car park

Plans for eight new semi-detached houses at the car park of a former pub have been revealed.

The proposed housing development in Westhoughton, near Bolton , would be located at the previous car park used for the Windmill pub.

The site in Chorley Road, which is owned by Oaktree is within close proximity of existing residential dwellings.

But the developer has said that the scheme has been designed “sensitively” to not have an adverse impact on the amenity and living environment of current residents.

It said: “On the contrary, it would have a positive effect in terms of visual amenity of the area and be much more neighbour friendly than the previous use.

"The aesthetic design is based on the style and materials of the surrounding buildings so the buildings are in context with the surrounding environment.”

The Windmill, which is permanently closed, was bought by Platinum Projects Europe in June 2012, according to whatpub.com .

Town hall planners are due to make a decision on the application by mid-October.
