Eight new coronavirus cases in Premier League after latest testing

The latest round of Premier League coronavirus tests have revealed eight positive results among players and staff.

Tests were conducted between Monday, October 12 and Sunday, October 18, with 1,575 people in total tested.

Burnley full-back Phil Bardsley, who missed the Clarets' goalless draw with West Brom on Monday, is known to be among the eight.

The individuals who have tested positive are required to self-isolate for a period of 10 days.

Monday's figure is up from the five players and staff who tested positive the previous week and down from nine the week before.

A statement read: "The Premier League is providing this aggregated information for the purposes of competition integrity and transparency.

"No specific details as to clubs or individuals will be provided by the League and results will be made public after each round of testing."

The sixth round of Premier League matches kick off on Friday with Leeds United's away game at Aston Villa.
