The UK coronavirus death toll has risen by eight according to the latest figures.
The total number of coronavirus deaths in the UK that have been recorded in all settings now stands at 46,201.
The Department of Health and Social Care has paused publishing a daily number of coronavirus deaths because it no longer views it as reliable, but Public Health England still updates a daily data dashboard.
This data reflects when deaths were recorded, not when they actually happened.
There was one coronavirus death in the North West yesterday, according to the separate figures for deaths in hospitals. The death happened at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust in Greater Manchester.
There were no new coronavirus deaths recorded at trusts in Merseyside.
The latest figures come after reports in national newspapers claiming the government is considering radical new plans to avoid a second lockdown this year.
The Prime Minister has already halted plans for an easing of conditions due to growing concerns that the prevalence of the virus was likely to be rising for the first time since May.
