On Wednesday, Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust recorded five more Covid-related deaths while two more patients died Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Two lives were also lost at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and another death was recorded at Salford Royal Hospital.

NHS England's daily figures account for all Covid-19-related deaths in hospitals, and do not include those in a community setting, such as care homes.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Wednesday, June 17, is:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 221
  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 410
  • NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 175
  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 203
  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 180
  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13
  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 248

Nationally, 77 people who tested positive for the coronavirus died, bringing the total number of deaths in hospitals in England to 28,138.

The latest weekly data shows that coronavirus-related deaths in England and Wales have fallen to their lowest number since lockdown was first implemented.

A total of 1,588 deaths registered in the week ending June 5 mentioned Covid-19, down from 1,822 in the previous seven-day period, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

It is the lowest number since 539 coronavirus-related deaths were registered in the week ending March 27, four days after Prime Minister Boris Johnson introduced strict lockdown measures in an effort to halt the spread of the virus.

The latest figures mean 14.8% of all deaths in England and Wales during the week ending June 5 were coronavirus-related – down from 18.5% the week before.

It means the percentage of deaths involving Covid-19 declined for the seventh week running.
