Eight injured in stabbing spree near Colorado Springs walking trails before police detain suspect

A man was shot by armed police last night

Eight people have been hurt in a stabbing spree across multiple locations in a city in the US state of Colorado.

Police said the horrifying incident in Colorado Springs in the early hours of Monday appeared to be a random act of violence.

The knife attacks began at about 1.30am (8.30am UK time) and took place near walking trails in the city.

A man has been detained and taken into custody, Colorado Springs Police Department said in statement.

Officers found two victims in the city’s west side and tracked the suspect along trails, where several more injured people were found.

There has been reports that some of the victims had helped to detain the suspect, the police department said.

Seven victims were rushed to hospital.

Five of them have since been discharged, UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central said. The conditions of the other were not disclosed.
