The latest breakdown released by the Government yesterday (Tuesday, November 24) shows five Covid-related deaths were confirmed in Bristol.

Three people died after contracting the virus in North Somerset.

And another death was confirmed in South Gloucestershire.

Between November 11 to 17, a total of 37 deaths have been recorded in Bristol and its neighbouring areas.

Today's death toll comes as Bristol's daily cases have hit a seven-week low.

The latest figures show 89 people were diagnosed with the virus yesterday.

The last time the city's daily infections dropped below 100 was on October 4, when 74 were reported.

However, the number of Covid patients in hospitals across the South West remains high.

On Saturday (November 21), 103 coronavirus patients were admitted to hospitals across the region, bringing the overall total to 771.
