Eight arrests for attempted murder of boy, 17, in Leeds city centre

Eight people have been arrested on suspicion of trying to murder a 17-year-old boy in Leeds city centre.

Police were called to Vicar Lane in just after 6pm last night (July 3) after the boy was found "with injuries to his back".

He was rushed to Leeds General Infirmary, where he remains in a serious condition.

The nature of his injuries or how they were inflicted have not been disclosed by West Yorkshire Police but they are not believed to be life threatening.

Eight males have now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. All eight remained in custody on Saturday morning.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "At 6.06pm yesterday, police were called to report of a stabbing at Vicar Lane in Leeds City Centre.

"A 17-year-old man was found with injuries to his back, he’s in hospital in a serious but not life threatening condition.

"Eight males have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody at this time. Extensive enquiries are underway."
