Three men and five women were arrested for allegedly running football gambling website i99bet.net, with a six-month turnover of 200 million baht, from a server located in Cambodia, police said.

Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn, immigration police chief, on Wednesday identified the men as Kritpop Cheethammarat, Adisorn Charoenkitpailert and Likhit Thaipak and the women as Cholthicha Phuphewpha, Somruethai Iamsa-ard, Kannika Panpaeng, Chutikan Sarasing and Tipsuwan Chokechai.

They were wanted under arrest warrants issued by the Phra Khanong court for allegedly soliciting people to gamble on football matches online, running an illicit business and taking part in transnational crime.

They were arrested with bank books, ATMs and other documents in Prawet district, Bangkok, on Tuesday night .

Pol Lt Gen Surachate said Mr Kritpop, 40, was the webmaster and the site had operated for two years, attracting many Thai gamblers.

Mr Adisorn opened customers' accounts while Miss Cholthicha and Miss Somruethai opened bank accounts, he said. Miss Kannika and Miss Chutikan were financial staff and Mr Likhit worked in Poipet town in Cambodia.

Their assets would be impounded, the immigration chief said.
