Real's season had threatened to implode as former coach Julen Lopetegui was sacked following a 5-1 Clasico rout at Barcelona, but Solari has steadied the ship with four straight wins as caretaker to earn himself an 18-month deal.
Solari's side now sit just four points behind Barca after the champions' shock 4-3 home defeat to Real Betis, and the Spanish title race looks very much on again.
