Egyptian Accused of Killing Daughter in Germany Urges Cairo’s Intervention

Fouad Masoud, the father of an Egyptian citizen suspected of killing his daughter in Germany, called on the Egyptian Foreign Ministry to intervene and help uncover what he described as "the mystery surrounding the crime, especially that the details of what happened in the house before the police arrival are still unknown."

In an interview with the German News Agency Saturday, Masoud called on the Egyptian Embassy in Germany to assign a team of lawyers to meet his son, hear his story about the murder of his daughter, and ensure all his legal rights.

His son Ahmed has a peaceful character, and has never been an aggressive person, Masoud said.

German media had reported the arrest of a 32-year-old Egyptian man in the Rath district of Dusseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia, suspected of killing his daughter because of disagreements with his 44-year-old wife.

"He killed his daughter to punish his wife," said lawyer Berta Tsur, commenting on the investigation.

Witnesses described the father as a good person, who always took care of his daughter, and had no precedents or problems with the police. The man had immediately surrendered to the police, which arrested him after opening the apartment door. The emergency doctor confirmed the death of the girl, and her autopsy showed that her death was caused by "a violent attack on the neck area," the investigators said. The Prosecutor described the crime as a murder for villainous reasons.

Masoud, who lives in the Buayrat Island on the Nile River in western Luxor, 700 km south of Cairo, said he learned from friends in Germany that his son suffers from mental health problems.

He requested to provide his son with psychological help.
