The Egyptian government has warned of construction violations taking place in the country during the Eid al-Adha holiday, which began on Tuesday.

The Ministry of Local Development stressed that it will not tolerate any violation of agricultural land or state property, warning that prompt legal actions will be taken against the transgressors.

Starting July, Egypt has started applying new conditions in all provinces in order to regulate construction and crack down on arbitrary construction.

According to Cairo Governor Maj Gen Khaled Abdel Aal, any attempt to exploit the Eid holiday for unlicensed construction will be firmly addressed. “Chaos in construction” will not be tolerated, the Egyptian government stressed.

It added that this is a priority for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who has repeatedly urged combating building violations and arbitrary and illegal construction.

Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed Al-Quseir revealed that 44 violations on agricultural lands were removed on Sunday.
