Egyptian health authorities have urged the public to observe coronavirus precautions, stressing the importance of adhering to health measures to limit the spread of the virus, as the country witnessed a slight increase in infections.
Egypt has recorded 644 new COVID-19 cases and 44 deaths, bringing the total number of cases registered to 190,924 cases, including 147,234 recoveries, and 11,300 deaths.
The adviser to the Minister of Health Hala Zayed warned that anyone who tested positive for the virus can transmit the infection to another, noting that those infected must follow all necessary instructions to prevent transmission.
Zayed indicated that the ministry didn't expect a hike in the number of infections during the second wave of the virus.
“Citizens should have a more positive role in controlling the virus infection," she stressed.
She announced that between 1,000 and 2,000 citizens receive the coronavirus vaccine daily, pointing out that these numbers are expected to increase with time as people feel more confident about vaccines.
Zayed asserted that it is still a long way until the country achieves immunity through vaccination, however, the only way to control this increase is through committing to precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Drug Authority affirmed that any vaccine that enters the country must obtain the necessary approvals and licenses that guarantee its full effectiveness and safety.
The authority issued a statement asserting the safety of the coronavirus vaccines, indicating that it conducts all the studies and analysis necessary to approve any vaccine.
