
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for European Affairs Badr Abdel Aty and Assistant State Secretary for the Middle East and North Africa Division Ambassador Maya Tissafi held a round of political consultations in Bern.
A statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said that the two sides stressed the importance of the distinguished relations between the two countries at various levels.
They agreed to exploit the opportunities to advance political and economic relations further.
The discussions addressed cooperation in recovering Egyptian antiquities, immigration, human rights, and combating terrorism.
They also discussed ways to enhance trade, investment, and financial cooperation, including increasing Egyptian exports to Switzerland and encouraging Swiss companies to invest in Egypt.
The two officials addressed the recent regional and international developments and issues of common concern, stressing the importance of enhancing mutual coordination at the multilateral level.
They addressed opportunities to enhance cooperation in the green economy, digitization, recycling, water resource management, modern irrigation systems, cybersecurity, and vaccine production.
In addition, they discussed prospects for boosting Swiss companies’ investments in various infrastructure sectors such as railways, renewable and clean energy, and supporting their involvement in mega national projects such as the Suez Canal Economic Zone and establishing new smart cities.
