Egypt will spare no effort to meet the aspirations of the Libyan people and help them restore their country's stability and achieve comprehensive development, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has announced.
Shoukry met Monday with Vice President of the Libyan Presidential Council Moussa al-Koni, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Ahmed Hafez said.
Hafez said that Shoukry voiced Egypt's support on the withdrawal of terrorist groups from Libya, allowing the country to have sovereignty over its territories through national institutions.
Shoukry praised the outcome of the Paris conference on Libya, which was held last Friday, and pressed for holding presidential and parliamentary elections on time.
That is a pivotal step towards completing the political roadmap approved by Libyan officials, he said.
All foreign troops and mercenaries should leave Libya as soon as possible in line with relevant international resolutions, he said, adding that they are the main obstacle to reaching a comprehensive political solution to the Libyan crisis.
For his part, Koni appreciated the Egyptian role in ensuring stability in Libya.
