
Egypt’s industrial production index for transformative and extractive industries slightly increased during October, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The Agency’s statistics showed that the industries, excluding crude oil and petroleum products, inched up 0.04 percent, recording 131.20 points during October 2019, compared to 131.15 points during September 2019.
The index for the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products hit 139.25 during October 2019, compared to 130.84 in September 2019, with an increase of 6.4 percent, due to an uptick in supply contracts.
The record number for the non-metallic mineral products, such as brick, glass, and cement, reached 93.66 during October 2019, compared to 91.10 in September 2019. The products increased 2.8 percent due to the creation of a new production line for one of the sources, CAPMAS added.
Meanwhile, the index of the food products industry recorded 146.89 in October 2019, compared to 154.30 in September 2019 due to a decrease in demand by 4.8 percent.
The printing and reproduction media industry recorded about 195.20 during October 2019, compared to 198.32 in September 2019, with a decrease of 1.6 percent, due to a drop in supply contracts.
