Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shourki departed AlUla on Tuesday after taking part in the 41st Gulf Cooperation Summit and signing the AlUla declaration on ending the Gulf rift.
The minister signed the declaration out of Egypt’s “constant keenness on solidarity among the Arab quartet” that also includes Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, said a statement from the foreign ministry.
The quartet, it continued, is eager to reunite Arab ranks and remove any obstacles hindering relations between the fraternal countries.
This aims to “bolster joint Arab work to confront the major challenges in the region,” it stressed.
The declaration is a significant step that supports relations among Arab countries based on good intentions and refraining from meddling in the internal affairs of other Arab countries, it stated.
The AlUla declaration was signed by Gulf leaders meeting at the GCC summit in Saudi Arabia, effectively paving the way for reconciliation between the quartet and Qatar.
