Egypt Says Has Sufficient Quantities of Vaccines for Citizens

Egypt has sufficient coronavirus vaccines for all citizens, the Ministry of Health announced Monday.

The Ministry said that 1,145 new coronavirus cases were detected, upping the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak in the country began to 253,835.

In a statement, the spokesman for the Health Ministry said 51 patients have died from the virus over the past 24 hours, raising the death toll to 14,721.

Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed said Monday that community communication teams have provided health awareness to 17,000 citizens and tourists in the Suez Governorate.

The teams worked from May 18 to 24 as part of a plan being implemented in all Egyptian cities that attract tourists.

In a statement, Zayed said the ministry supports the state’s plan to stimulate tourism and spread health awareness by following precautionary and preventive measures against the novel coronavirus.

Health Ministry Spokesman Khalid Mujahid noted that the medical insurance plan for the Suez Governorate includes the deployment of community communications teams in tourism villages, public markets, cafes, shops, hotels, and gathering places in Ain Sokhna.

The plan aims to provide health awareness alongside advice on precautionary measures to visitors.

This includes awareness on the importance of wearing face masks, frequent handwashing with soap and water or rubbing them with alcohol, and maintaining social distancing.

Moreover, awareness is also provided to citizens and workers in the tourism sector about the importance of receiving the coronavirus vaccine. Advice is given on how to register on the official website for COVID-19 vaccination.
