
Coronavirus vaccination centers in Egypt are witnessing a great turnout of citizens, the Health Ministry affirmed on Monday.
In televised statements on Sunday, Head of the Central Administration for Preventive Medicine Affairs Mohamed Abdel Fattah said the new vaccincation centers have been opened in densely populated governorates and are witnessing high turnout.
He also revealed that Cairo will receive 4.5 million COVID-19 doses in May.
Some 150,000 citizens, including medical staff, healthcare workers and vulnerable groups, have been vaccinated so far, the ministry noted.
It also revealed that workers in the tourism sector will also receive the vaccine for free soon.
According to the Ministry, over 184,000 citizens received free medical assistance in Egypt in March, as part of the Decent Life initiative, launched in 2019 by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.
It said 156 caravans went to remote areas across the country where medical services are not available.
Focused on education, healthcare and housing services, the initiative involves several state and civil society institutions.
