Egyptian Army Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Mohamed Farid on Thursday toured North Sinai and inspected army and police personnel in the region.

Farid made a visit to the permanent operations center where he was briefed on anti-terrorist operations to preserve stability in North Sinai, according to a statement by the military spokesman.

Meeting with a number of soldiers, the army chief of staff conveyed the greetings of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Defense Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Mohamed Zaki for the military’s efforts and their sacrifices.

Their measures have helped restore security and created a suitable climate for investments in Sinai, he added.

Farid held talks with military commanders, officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers, during which he voiced his confidence in their ability to execute their tasks and preserve the security of North Sinai.

He toured New Rafah city and met with the North Sinai governor, security officials and citizens in Sheikh Zuweid city, the statement read.
