
Egypt reported on Tuesday a decline in the number of daily COVID-19-related deaths.
The Ministry of Health and Population said 879 people had fully recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 219,291.
Spokesman for the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed noted that deaths registered over the past 24 hours had raised the death toll to 16,403, while the total number of confirmed cases had reached 283,212.
On Tuesday, the Egyptian Interior Ministry said up to 11,410 people were fined for not wearing masks in places where this measure was required.
It also reported 855 violations by shops that failed to abide by the temporary lockdown orders.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Hala Zayed said in a televised speech on Monday that Egypt might be facing a fourth wave of the pandemic.
“A fourth wave of coronavirus will likely hit Egypt at the end of September or beginning of October,” she noted.
